SCHOOL PROJECT

Among CoRFiLaC dairy information programmes, the Experimental Marketing Section has launched a promotional campaign for historical and traditional Sicilian cheeses, choosing to target the younger generation through the "School Project".

The School Project started in 1999, develops activities in collaboration with young students of Primary and Secondary Schools of Sicily, that address the issues facing the entire circuit of the dairy chain through the "learning by doing" technique.

We believe that this technique is the best strategy for students so that they can understand the basic principles of cheese-making processes of the traditional Sicilian cheeses and the importance of their nutritional value. In addition, this technique is used by CoRFiLaC researchers to study if consumers 'attitude is aimed for the traditional cheese consumption than the industrial one.

Meeting with young students and the possibility to transmit them correct information on the consumption of traditional cheeses through educational and entertaining moments, gives a sense in the efforts and energies that constantly take CoRFiLaC’s researchers. Being able to spread the knowledge of dairy products like PDO Sicilian cheese specially try to get used their taste to these new products is a matter of great interest and encouragement to propose new initiatives.


ACTIVITY 2010-2011

CoRFiLaC School Project, offers two educational and entertaining activities: The first is called "Cheese-maker for one day” and the second “Taste Experience”.

"Cheese maker for one day ", young cheese makers follow all the stages of milk processing up to the manipulation of the curd with the final realization of Provoletta with the help of expert cheese makers. The experience ends with a moment of recreation where young students can taste sampling of historic Sicilian cheeses.
The "Taste Experience”, tasting courses are taught in conjunction with entertaining moment. With this technique, the young students learn the techniques of cheese tasting by using the five senses.

The novelty of this year is represented by a series of activities devoted particularly to the milk , "The true Milk to km 0." A milk of true quality, fresh pasteurized, produced exclusively by animals bred in non intensive pasture system. A true novelty in the world of milks.

At the end of the activities the students will receive a complimentary brick of it.

Besides Corfilac, for all the young students, organizes a contest for the planning of an advertising campaign that has the objective to promote the consumption of the milk and of the Sicilian traditional cheeses among the young people.

Every student will have the possibility to use his/her own creativeness drawing on every bricks of milk his/her own graphic idea.


The activities take part at CoRFiLaC (SP 25 Ragusa Mare Km 5 – 97100 Ragusa) from 09.15 a.m. to 11.45a.m., from Monday to friday.
